Theodia Terms of Service

1. License to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Theodia on devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the applicable platform (App Store / Google Play) rules. The app is licensed, not sold.

2. Your content

Notes, bookmarks, highlights, reading plans, and other content you create inside the app stay on your device. You retain ownership of them. We do not receive, store, or claim any rights over your content.

If you choose to connect a self-hosted or third-party AI endpoint or GitHub account, your content is sent to the destination you configure, under that provider's terms and privacy policy. See the Privacy Policy for details.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app beyond what applicable law permits.
• Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the app or its bundled content in violation of their respective licenses.
• Use the app to infringe the rights of others, including copyright in bundled or downloaded Bible texts.
• Misrepresent the app or its content as your own.

4. Bundled and downloadable content

Theodia bundles and can download Bible translations, commentaries, lexicons, dictionaries, and encyclopedias. Each has its own license terms. You are responsible for complying with the license of any content you download or redistribute, including third-party content obtained through a GitHub Personal Access Token you provide.

5. AI assistant (Theophilus)

The in-app AI assistant ("Theophilus") connects to an endpoint you configure. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for any particular purpose, and should not be treated as authoritative theological or pastoral advice. You are responsible for how you use generated content. We do not operate the AI endpoint and are not responsible for the model, its outputs, or the provider's handling of your data.

6. Third-party services

The app relies on services we do not control — Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), GitHub (resource downloads), and any AI provider you choose. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, content, or privacy practices.

7. Privacy

Our collection and handling (or non-handling) of data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Disclaimers

The app and this website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that content is accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ecodia LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the app or website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If we make a material change, we will note it in the app's changelog.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Ecodia LLC operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
